This site, EconoIndicators, is about applying the Open Source vision to the advancement of economic knowledge. At its most basic, this means sharing economic statistics, or indicators, with end users. The end user of economics, the science of allocating scarce resources to meet unlimited wants, is every human being. This site aims to disseminate the widest possible range of current economic indicators from public and private sources in one place and archive them for the future.
Our sources are publicly produced (i.e. taxpayer funded) data and data freely released by private organizations. In the case of private organizations our preferred sources are press releases and data released in media kits. Where no specific press release, media kit or similar release of data is provided by a private organization, limited use of data otherwise made available is made explicitly for purposes of news reporting, scholarship and research. To minimize the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work of any private organization, a link to that organization’s own website is provided where available.
The sister site, EconoModels, is a repository for economic data.
